Building a limousine

-

This was one of the most complex and fun props I’ve built for the movie. The design was inspired by an Alfa Romeo once owned by Benito Mussolini, a beautiful two-door sports car with two rows of seats. My version, however, has 14 doors and six rows of seats. I built the car in four separate sections, which were looped during the animation process to make the car appear even longer.
Using a design draft and reference photos of real cars, I started by constructing the main structure with MDF and carving the curved mudguards from foam. I then refined the surfaces with epoxy before handcrafting all the details. The stunning paint job was done by the talented artists from the scenic department and model shop.
